Paddling Jewel of Central America

Discover why Panama is quickly becoming the "must do" destination for intermediate boaters from around the world.

Undeveloped and uncrowded, Panama is Central America's best kept whitewater secret. Over the past few years, we've come to appreciate the unspoiled beauty of this tropical paddler's paradise. We've also come to appreciate the unbelievable whitewater packed into the tiny Panamanian isthmus.

The rivers we paddle here drain the Baru Volcano before emptying into the Pacific Ocean. In between, you'll find some of the best boating in Central America. A creek boater's paradise, the upper sections of these rivers are tight and technical, and tumble off the mountain over big bedrock boulders. For the advanced creeking trip, you'll want to pack sunscreen and your boof-stroke. If you're not quite ready to jump on the steep stuff, our Intermediate trip will give you a chance to warm up on some of these runs at a lower altitude, where the gradient is less steep, the rapids are less technical, but the whitewater is just as fun. At lower altitudes, these rivers offer fantastic surfing and big wave trains for the paddler who likes to play his/her way down the river. We have more than 30 river sections to choose from, depending on water levels, goals and group skill level. Imagine an area with so many wonderful choices that your hardest decision each day will be choosing which river to paddle!
