*Driving Directions for Nantahala River Rapid Transit Trips

DIRECTIONS TO NOC'S MAIN CAMPUS ON THE NANTAHALA RIVER
Trips on the Nantahala River begin and end at our Main Campus on the Nantahala River, located in far western North Carolina on US Highway 19, approximately 12 miles west of Bryson City, on the south side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Note: There are different directions to Rapid Transit, as their meeting place is not located at our Main Campus. *Directions to NOC's Rapid Transit.

NOC recommended driving directions to each individual outpost are the easiest and quickest routes on the most clearly marked roads and highways. Please cross-check any GPS, Mapquest, Google, Yahoo, AAA or other online routings with our directions and online maps.

From Asheville, NC -Take I-40 West toward Knoxville, TN. Take exit 27 onto US 74 West toward Waynesville. The Nantahala is located 50 miles down this road. Stay on 74 West. ** 8 miles west of Bryson City, the 4-lane highway you are on will split into two 2-lane roads. Stay on 74, which is the left lane. Go another 5 miles. On the last descent you will see a yellow caution sign on the right indicating you are entering the Nantahala Gorge. Just after the sign you will see the Nantahala River. For raft trips and lake tours: Turn right across the concrete bridge spanning the river. Check-in is to the left after you cross the bridge. For canoe, kayak instruction and lodging: Check-in at the Information Office across from the Outfitter's Store. For mountain bike rentals: Check-in at the Outfitter's Store.

From Gatlinburg, TN -Take 441 S through Great Smoky Mountains National Park through Cherokee. Just past Cherokee, get on Hwy 74 W. After approximately 15 miles, the road will split into two 2-lane roads. Stay on 74 W which is the left lane and continue 4.3 miles to Nantahala Outdoor Center. For raft trips and lake tours: Turn right across the concrete bridge spanning the river. Check-in is to the left after you pass the bridge. For paddling instruction, Alpine Tower samplers and lodging: Check in at the Information Office across the street from the Outfitter's Store. For mountain bike rentals: Check in at the Outfitter's Store.

From east Atlanta -Take I-85 North to I-985 North. At Gainesville, GA take 365 North to 441 North. Just past Dillsboro, NC, 441 merges with US 74. Take 74 West past all Bryson City exits. (Then follow directions from ** in FROM ASHEVILLE above)

From west Atlanta -Take I-75 North to I-575 North. I-575 becomes State Hwy 5, which in turn becomes Hwy 76. Stay with this road until you reach Blue Ridge, GA, and then turn left onto Hwy 60 to Mineral Bluff, GA. In Mineral Bluff, turn right onto Hwy 60 Spur. Follow it into North Carolina to US 74 East, turning right toward Murphy and Andrews. ## Stay on 74 East. NOC is about 20 miles past Andrews. You will be following the Nantahala River for the last 8 miles. For raft trips and lake tours: Pass NOC's River's End Restaurant and Outfitter's Store. Turn left across the concrete bridge spanning the river. Check-in is to the left after you cross the bridge. For canoe, kayak instruction and lodging: Check-in at the Information Office across from the Outfitter's Store. For mountain bike rentals: Check-in at the Outfitter's Store.

From Chattanooga, TN -Take I-75 North toward Cleveland, TN. Take the first Cleveland exit, which is US 64 BYPASS East. Go 6 miles and take the Ocoee Exit onto US 64 East toward Murphy, NC. At Murphy the road number changes to US 74. Stay on US 74 going east toward Andrews. (Then follow the directions from ## in FROM WEST ATLANTA above.)



*Driving Directions for Rapid Transit Trips
From Asheville, NC -Take I-40 W toward Knoxville, TN. Take exit 27 onto US 74 W toward Waynesville. Drive on US 74 for 40 miles until you reach Bryson City exit 67. Bear right at the end of the exit ramp onto Veterans Blvd. See **From Veterans Blvd., below.

From west Atlanta, GA -Take I-75 N to I-575 N which becomes State Hwy 5. State Hwy 5 in turn becomes Hwy 76. Stay with this road until just past Blue Ridge, GA, and then turn left onto Hwy 60 to Mineral Bluff, GA. In Mineral Bluff, turn right onto Hwy 60 Spur. Follow it into North Carolina to US 74 E, turning right toward Murphy and Andrews. ~~ Continue on 74 E past Andrews until you reach Bryson City. You will pass by the Nantahala River and numerous rafting companies including NOC. Keep going! You will be meeting with NOC at the Depot in Bryson City, not at the river. Take exit 67 and turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Veterans Blvd. See **From Veterans Blvd., below.

From east Atlanta, GA -Take I-85 N to I-985 N. At Gainesville, GA take 365 N to 441 N into North Carolina. Near Dillsboro, NC, US 441 merges with US 74 W. From Veterans Blvd -Turn right onto Main St at the first traffic light on Veterans Blvd, then turn left onto Everett St at the next light. At the first traffic light on Everett, turn left onto Mitchell St. Parking for Rapid Transit will be on your right.
