Soar to New Heights

Test your limits on NOC's newest adventure activity.  Soar over 600' through the air on the Wesser Zip, the Nantahala Gorge's most fun zip line; then take on a multi-level challenge course as high as 60' above the forest floor. 

Each level features new obstacles: wobbling sky bridges, confusing spider webs, nerve-racking tight ropes and more exciting ziplining.  With all these options, you can pick and choose your challenges based on your abilities.

The Zip Line Adventure Park also features the latest in continuous auto-belay technology so you can guide yourself through the course at your own pace.  Once harnessed in you stay connected at all times, and you're free to negotiate the challenges ahead.

This engaging adventure perfectly complements a half-day Nantahala River rafting trip or a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Combine all three for a fun-filled weekend getaway in the North Carolina mountains.

Built by Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) certified designers, the Zip Line Adventure Park features state-of-the-art equipment and obstacles. Helmets and harnesses are inspected daily by trained NOC staff. Professional teambuilding facilitation is available through NOC's Group Adventure Program staff. The Zip Line Adventure Park is designed for both recreation and for team building activities and exercises.

Zip Line Adventure Park Elements

Sky Bridge: A confidence-building walk over a shaky jungle suspension bridge.

Paul’s Skis: Hinged lengths of lumber challenge guests to walk one foot in front of the other and deal with the shifting orientation of their supports throughout the crossing.

Burma Loops: Ten “U” shaped rope pieces form the path to the next platform. Spaced two to three feet apart, the ropes only reluctantly allow climbers through!

Pond Lillies: Large and small suspended lily platforms are relatively stable, but they give a definite sense of exposure.

Islands in the Sky: Get ready to jump from suspended platform to suspended platform 40’ in the air!

Multiple Mini-Zips: It takes a leap of faith to zip the wide open spaces between platforms. Some zips include a moving component you can leap to for an added challenge. 

Spider’s Web: Climb a sideways web to reach the next platform. This traverse requires coordination and strategy; you can't go straight across the web. 

Swinging Sticks: Suspended pieces of lumber dangle in a line between platforms. The sticks will test climbers’ mettle as they sway back and forth between platforms during the crossing. 

Lincoln Logs: Short, offset balance beams with some gaps in between them require precise balance and bursts of coordinated movement.

Catwalk: A classic exposed 35’ balance beam with no handholds. The catwalk is the ultimate focus-building obstacle.

Multi-Vine Traverse: A single foot cable leads to the next platform, but seven vine-like ropes hang 4-5’ apart to help you cross. Think of a tight rope with some hand ropes placed strategically to help, or distract, a climber.
