2007 Club Cup Competition October 27, 2007 Calling all whitewater clubs! Join us October 27th for the 5th annual Club Cup Competition. The competition will be fierce but the reward great, as the winning club carries the bragging rights and earns the title of "Best Paddling Club in the Land". And if that's not enough motivation, and because the water's cold, we'll also reward prizes for spectacular, and not so spectacular performances. So gather your whitewater warriors and prepare to do battle in the following three events:
Throw Baggery Time to dust the cobwebs off the ropes and throwing arms, unless of course you have had a lot of practice this season already, and if so, we won't ask! Teams (Maximum 5 participants per team, minimum 2) will have one minute to make as many throws at respective targets as possible. Targets are scored based on their difficulty, and point deductions will be made for "throw zone" infractions. Throw bags will be provided by NOC and no÷ we won't recoil the bags for you, you must ball them up into a knotted mess like you always do. Top three teams will earn points to their respective clubs. Expect a few special surprises this year!
Ducky Slalom We know all of you "hard boaters" out there have always wanted to shred it in an "IK." Well here is your chance. You and one of your club buddies will have to team up in a double duck and negotiate our course, all while collecting items from strategic eddies. Points are awarded to the top three teams for time, and points are awarded to teams for retrieving objects from eddies. Who knows who will win this one! Individual clubs may enter 3 ducky teams.
Canoe Cram If we've learned anything from years past it's that you can only cram so much weight into a Dagger Legend canoe before it starts to sink. Nonetheless, your club's task is to cram as many people into the canoe and perform a ferry. The team with the most paddlers wins the event. The team with the best costumes will win the overall cup in the event of a tie, and maybe some prizes as well. Clubs must reach the finish line upright and with all members inside before it counts as a clean run.
Complete event rules will be posted the day of the competition. May the best club win! TOP BACK TO GUEST APPRECIATION FESTIVAL BACK TO EVENTS MAIN PAGE |
