NOC's experienced kayaking instructors are coming to your town!
Come find out what kayaking is all about and why more and more families are getting into it! On June 17 and 24, Nantahala Outdoor Center is offering an introduction to kayaking for families, in partnership with the Chattahoochee Nature Center outside of Atlanta, GA and the new US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. NOC's Paddling School is coming to the Atlanta and Charlotte areas to introduce families to the family-friendly sport of kayaking! Our experienced instructors will introduce whitewater kayaking and recreational kayak touring to kids (ages 4+) and adults. Paddling is a lifetime sport that offers something for all ages. Peaceful lake touring, gentle moving water paddling, and exciting whitewater trips offer the full range of sport for active families. Kids ages 4-7 will learn about paddling in tandem recreational kayaks with a parent or other grownup. Adults and kids ages 8 and up will learn about paddling their own recreational or whitewater kayak.
Atlanta Area Event Details:
Family Kayaking Day will be held at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, on Saturday, June 17, 2006. All on water instruction will take place at the Nature Center's Beaver Pond. Families are encouraged to register in advance with NOC to guarantee their spaces. The introductory sessions are scheduled for 11am-1pm, 1-3pm, and 3-5pm. All gear will be provided by NOC. Each two hour session costs $10 per person. Ages 4-7 are free in a tandem kayak with a paying adult. The Chattahoochee Nature Center will have the pool and picnic area open for families to enjoy during Family Kayaking Day. Bring a picnic and swimsuit and stay awhile!

Charlotte Area Event Details:
NOC's Family Kayaking Day will be held at Charlotte's new US National Whitewater Center on Saturday, June 24, 2006. NOC and the USNWC are partners in making whitewater paddling accessible to all. NOC is proud to be a key advisor to the USNWC development and operations team. Families are encouraged to register in advance with NOC to guarantee their spaces. The introductory sessions are scheduled for 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 1-3pm, and 3-5pm. All on water instruction will take place on the flatwater of the Catawba River, right beside the USNWC. All gear will be provided by NOC. Each two hour session costs $10 per person. Ages 4-7 are free in a tandem kayak with a paying adult. Enjoy the thrilling new US National Whitewater Center and watch national team athletes paddling the Class 3-4 rapids of the artificial whitewater course.
