Age: 28 Height/Weight: 6' 0" / 175 lbs First Year Paddling: 1980 First Year at NOC: 1980 Favorite Boats: The Nomad 8.5, it gets you where you want to go. The Agent 6.4, hold on for this one! Favorite Rivers: Can't pick just one, I tend to like the ones with water.
Fun Facts: A member of the NOC family, Andrew grew up paddling on the Nantahala River with his father Jimmy. These days, Andrew could very well be considered one of the best paddlers in the world. He made the US Freestyle Team and took second place in both divisions at the Green River Race—even though it was his first time ever competing in the event. In addition to all of this, he travels and instructs kayakers as part of Dagger's "Paddle with the Pros" and with the NOC Paddling School. His heros are his family and every person who does what they say and means what they do.
Paddling accoplishments: Two-time US Mens Team member, Silver Medalist at the 2003 World Championships, Numerous top-three finishes in freestyle events and extreme races, and several first descents. 2007 US Mens Freestyle Team member.
Freestyle or River Running? I can't say that I like one over the other. For me every part of kayaking has something to offer and I don't see a reason to limit myself. That being said, there's nothing like sticking a line on a big drop/rapid!
Favorite Part about Kayaking: The places you get to go and the people you meet along the way.
