Costa Rica: Class II-III Week of Rivers

Costa Rica Class II-III Paddling
Dates: December 7-13, 2008
Cost:
$1649

Enjoy the permanent summer weather of exotic Costa Rica on the Sardinal and Sarapiqui Rivers. We'll start the day working on rolls in the private pool, then walk to the put-in for the Sardinal. Red and blue frogs welcome our approach to the inviting waters of this Class I-II river, where we'll practice basic maneuvers and enjoy the abundant wildlife this pristine river corridor offers.

As we build skills and confidence we'll move to the Class II section of the Sarapiqui River which meanders through verdant rainforest and manicured fields of sugar cane and bananas. This beautiful river is home to numerous birds and monkeys and is marked by the epiphytes and orchids that hang over the water. For those looking for more excitement, the Sarapiqui has all the Class III rapids you could want, and is the perfect introduction to Costa Rica's unique style of whitewater.

After paddling each day, we'll return to nearby lodging at La Quinta. This tropical paradise is perfect for relaxing. Enjoy a cool drink while lounging in a hammock and watching the numerous species of hummingbird and butterflies feed on exotic flowers at your feet. Local musicians complete the perfect happy hour.

*There are a variety of river choices in Costa Rica. We choose the day's river based on water levels, group goals and skill level.
