During the
class, we will introduce you to our philosophy of teaching that is:
- Student-centered
- Goal-oriented
- Progression-based
As the week goes on, we'll also help with refining your personal skills for
efficient techniques and river running skills with a major focus on:
- River management skills
- Rescue prevention
- Hands-on rescue - skills both in and out of the boat.
One of the unequaled features of the course is 2 days of teaching actual
beginning students while being given tips and feedback from an experienced
mentor instructor. This will prove to be incredibly valuable as you introduce
new students to the sport and teach them the paddling progressions needed for
fun and success on the water. Note: At the end of the course, we'll be offering the top students a job
with the NOC Paddling School and reimbursement of the student training fees for
the course. We focus on your safety while teaching you how to manage unforeseen challenges
on the water. During our time together over the week, we'll have the
opportunity to paddle on Class III-IV rapids. If you are not sure how rapids
are classified (you're probably in the wrong class!), visit the AW International Scale of River Difficulty page.
