Rafting the Lower New with NARR

West Virgina's Classic Run

With near year-round Class III-V water, the Lower New River is a classic run in the heart of West Virgina. This stretch of the oldest river in North America is spanned by the impressive New River Gorge Bridge, 876 feet above the river. This is the place where spring rains bring the biggest whitewater flows in the East.

Highlights on the Lower New River include Upper and Lower Railroad, The Keeneys, Double-Z, Miller's Folly and Fayette Station Rapids. There is a minimum age requirement of 12 years to raft the splashy, roller-coaster-like Lower New. Our partners at NARR offer various trips on the new, including multi-day and overnight trips.
