Wilderness Medicine with SOLO Southeast

SOLO Wilderness Med

Get SOLO-Certified at NOC

NOC has partnered with Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO), the pioneers of Wilderness Medicine education and certification to offer a new venue in the Southeast. With more than 65 combined years in the outdoor industry, this partnership gives outdoor professionals a single destination for building backcountry skills.

SOLO Southeast classes are held at NOC's Kleinrath Hall, a custom-built conference center. But don't get too cozy. We have a strong philosophy of hands-on learning and real-life scenarios in the challenging environment that surrounds NOC. Our students leave with the ability to interpret emergencies, apply good judgement and execute decisions. We teach prevention first, treatment second and emphasize a wilderness ethic of respect and stewardship.

Leading the NOC/SOLO Wilderness Medicine courses are Jonathon Bryant and Anne Sontheimer. Jono has more than 10 years experience teaching wilderness medicine, having led expeditions in the rainforests of the Amazon and Borneo. Anne is one of the nation's leading kayak instructors, as well as a former ski patrol and a veteran adventure travel guide.
