Bahamas Flats Fishing At a Glance

Bonefish are ghost-like in appearance, they frequent knee-deep water and require accurate casts, making them the ultimate in sight fishing. Once hooked, they take off like sports cars and offer anglers a reel-screaming experience. The marl flats and mangrove backcountry of South Andros Island provide perfect habitat and a variety of playing fields on which to fish. The southern terminus of the island acts as a nursury for the 'bones' and the schools of fish, sometimes in the thousands, can be seen moving through the current. Bonefish aren't the only residents of South Andros: Barracudas, shark, jacks, snapper and permit all swim here as well.

South Andros is a classic Caribbean island, free of big resorts and major development. A friendly, laid-back local culture make this the best fishing experience in all the Bahamas. South Andros also borders the "Tongue of the Ocean," an area of sea that drops to over 2,000 ft. less than a mile from the beach.
