The trip starts with a mile-long paddle, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the quiet, wilderness setting. As we explore the lake, your guide will provide helpful hints for maneuvering and safe paddling practices. We typically spend an hour or so of gentle paddling on the lake, depending on how much exploring you want to do, before arriving at the base of Slick Rock Creek.

Slick Rock Creek borders the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and is highly recommended for novices or experienced hikers who are in good condition but will be a challenge for smaller children. Bring along some hiking shoes that you don't mind getting wet; an old pair of running shoes is perfect, since there will be a couple of creek crossings where your feet get wet. After a mile-long hike ending at Lower Falls, the group will enjoy a picnic lunch and a chance to swim in the pool at the base of the falls. This is an excellent time to explore and enjoy the peacefulness of this pristine, old-growth wilderness area.

After lunch, the group will hike back to our boats for one last chance to take in the breathtaking sights of this beautiful gorge. You'll enjoy relaxing and sharing stories as we drive back together at the end of the day, arriving at NOC around 5pm.
