The Easiest Way to Paddle

A one-day introduction to whitewater kayaking, the Whitewater Sampler is a great way to enjoy the thrill of whitewater kayaking. If you've ever thought you might enjoy this lifetime activity, this is your course. Instructors will impart some basics, but the focus of the sampler is to share the joy of paddling.

Daily Programs: May 24 through September 1

Your day begins by selecting the best boat and gear to give you comfort and confidence. Our instructors are experts at teaching the basic kayak techniques, maneuvers and safety that is best learned on flatwater before going to the river. We typically spend a couple of hours at the lake working on basic strokes and developing boat control.

After a picnic lunch we're off to the river to experience the moving-water action you've been looking forward to! Our instructors will choose a section of river that is exciting, but reasonable for a first-time kayaker. Your river experience touches on basic river running, but is mostly directed toward letting you enjoy the thrill of whitewater, scenery and companionship. We typically finish around 5pm.
