Will Leverette Book Signing

A History of Whitewater Paddling

All are welcome to meet author and paddling instructor Will Leverette when he visits the Paddler's Pub for a book signing, Wednesday, August 13, 2008.

His new book, A History of Whitewater Paddling in Western North Carolina is a thorough look into the development of this popular sport from local pioneers in the 1920's through the innovators of the 1980's. Leverette is no stranger to the world of whitewater in Western NC-his grandfather, Frank "Chief" Bell is the founder of Camp Mondamin in Madison County, the country's most famous summer camp for paddling.

Instrumental in the area's whitewater history are the now-famous rivers, including the Nantahala, Chattooga, Toxaway and the Lower Green, featured as rather formidable challenges in the the nascent stages of whitewater paddling.

Leverette will give a reading, answer questions and sign copies of the book at the Paddler's Pub, upstairs at Relia's Garden at Nantahala Outdoor Center. The event kicks off at 7pm, Wednesday, August 13.
