Itinerary Although
each class varies with the needs and desires of the group, the following is an
example of your itinerary: Friday After check-in, the clinic begins with dinner at Relia's Garden Restaurant
where you will meet your instructors and the other women in your group. Share
views and stories about why you enjoy paddling whitewater. After dinner, you'll
review the activities of the weekend and watch an instructional video, The Kayaker's
Toolbox DVD or Whitewater
Kayaking for Women DVD. Saturday After breakfast, you'll head to our equipment area where your instructor will
help you select women-specific gear, or help you have the best fit for optimal
performance with your own gear. The next stop will be at a nearby lake for a
review of the basic strokes and techniques. Spend time troubleshooting and
mastering your kayak roll. A deli-style lunch offers a midday break. Most
groups like to head to a short stretch of moving water in the afternoon,
usually a Class II section of the Little Tennessee, Tuckasegee or the Nantahala. Finish the day with a great meal and the chance
to share stories of the day's adventures together at the Paddler's Pub. Sunday Refuel with breakfast before making your way to the water. Some groups may
return to the lake for more skill refinement. Other groups are ready to head
straight to the Nantahala River for a full day of excitement. Everyone will
have the opportunity to practice basic river skills while incorporating new
techniques. Our instructors excel at teaching you the best way to have the most
fun on the river. Finish the day with a delicious farewell dinner together and
receive one of our famous NOC Instruction t-shirts before saying goodbye to
your new friends.
We focus on
your safety while teaching you how to manage unforeseen challenges on the
water. During our river time over the weekend, we'll have the opportunity to
paddle on Class II and easier Class III rapids. If you are not sure how rapids
are classified, visit the AW International Scale of River Difficulty page. Remember: All of our paddling school guests receive a special discount
in the NOC
Outfitter's Store so do your shopping here! Contact Us
