The Smokies hold more than 800 miles of maintained trails, with something for every experience level and every goal, whether you want to meander past cascades, scale exposed rock at high elevations or take in the 360-degree views atop one of the park's famous balds. Hiking the Smokies with a guide ensures that you'll find an appropriate trail, and that you'll have an enriching experience learning about area history and plant and animal identification along the way.

Hiking Tours Available at NOC Gatlinburg

Below is a list of the guided hikes and walks available for booking at NOC Gatlinburg in downtown Gatlinburg or by calling 865.277.8209. All guided hikes include a tasty and fresh trail snack. Even if you choose to go at it alone, stop at NOC for up-to-date trail info, backcountry permits, maps and gear.

Trip Through Time (Easy to Moderate) - 1 1/2 hours - $25 Adult/$20 Youth (per person plus tax)
The Smokies are famous for its rich Southern Appalachian history. Get a glimpse of how one of Gatlinburg's most famous families, the Ogles, lived before this became a National Park. The walk takes us through an old apple orchard to a working grist mill. We'll visit rock walls and chimneys, a large barn and cabin, see an old fashioned "refrigerator" and discover how nature takes over when humans leave. The trail is narrow and rocky in spots.

 

Waterfall Excursion (Easy to Moderate) - 3 hours - $37 Adult/$30 Youth (per person plus tax)
Get a taste of an old growth forest on this walk to one of the most unique and accessible waterfalls in the Smokies. On this walk, we will experience giant trees, a large variety of plants, and a glimpse into why the Park is the salamander capital of the world. This is a great walk for kids. Be ready to get your feet wet as we get to experience this beautiful waterfall when we walk behind it.

River to Ocean (Easy) - 1 1/2 hours - $20 Adult/$16 Youth (per person plus tax)
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP) is teaming with life, as is the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. Experience aquatic life in the river and ocean all in one day!  Start your day strolling along a section of the 2,000 miles of rivers and streams in the GSMNP that over 60 species of fresh water fish call home.  Be prepares to get a little wet as you explore the waterways up close.  Then spend the afternoon exploring Ripley's Aquarium, where you will see more than 10,000 exotic sea creatures comprising of more than 350 individual species.  This is the perfect tour for all ages.  It is stroller and wheelchair freindly and great for any level of fitness.  (Aquarium tickets sold seperately)
