Anyone is welcome to compete in our combination ducky (inflatable kayak)/foot race. Competitors begin by paddling a duck from the Ledges on the Nantahala River to the takeout at NOC, for a total of 3 river miles. Once on land, competitors will run the 4-mile Flint Ridge Trail that winds through the mountains above the Nantahala River.
Registration: Register online by choosing "Other Programs" on our reservations widget, above right. Or, register on the day-of from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Slow Joe's Cafe. Register by Friday May 7th for a T-shirt. Also, reservations can be made by phone @ 888.905.7238. The last day to preregister is Tuesday, May 11th.
Race Day: Check-in will be held from 1pm-2pm on Saturday May 15th. Contestants will be required to watch the standard NOC pre-trip safety video, and will then be shuttled up to the ledges via bus. At the launch site, racers will be released one at a time at even intervals according to a pre-race lottery. Times will be recorded upon landing at the take out (two feet on the shore) and upon crossing the finish line at Slow Joe's Cafe.

Refreshments: Powerade, Dasani and gel provided after both duck and run portions.

Gear/Clothes: Wetsuits will be available, while paddles and pfds will be provided. Athletes must use standard NOC rafting/duck paddles. Race attire is athlete's responsibility--be sure to consider footwear, and a possible clothing change "pit stop" between events. Timing will not be paused for athletes to change!
