Costa Rica: Class III+ Week of Rivers November 24 - December 1, 2007 December 1 - 8, 2007 $1,575
Paddle in this "must do" whitewater destination at the peak of the whitewater season while basking in the eternal summer weather of Costa Rica. Kayaking in Costa Rica has become a "must do" event when the weather turns cold and the rivers are even colder. Many of our guests return year after year simply because they can't find a place that offers so much for the adventurous kayaker, no matter the time of year. What our guests are saying: Accommodations were terrific and instructors were awesome. Loved the side trip to Tabacon Hot Springs!!! Great trip. I wanna go next year!!!! Janis Paquette Possessing a stable political climate and blossoming eco-tourist economy, it is perfectly suited to comfortable travel while offering the excitement of warm tropical whitewater. Its rich and varied landscape is alive with wildlife and its people filled with hospitality. Optimistically named the "Rich Coast" for gold and silver, which were never found, Costa Rica today offers visitors a wealth of natural beauty. With plenty of rainfall and a rugged central mountain range separating the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, it is a tropical paradise for river runners. What our guests are saying: The guides put their all into this trip. They were always "on" and never seemed to need any "down" time, even though I imagine they did. Their energy and output amazed me and made for a great trip. The trip was very well organized and the rivers were a paddler's dream. All the Costa Rican staff at Hotel Cacts who transported our gear and us were so helpful and delightful too. Thank you, Katherine Cross
We will be on the rivers at the peak of the whitewater season. While cool weather invades North America, we will bask in the eternal summer weather of Costa Rica, just 10 degrees north of the equator. The water is warm and the whitewater is terrific. The rivers run through lush forests, which are the home of more species of birds and mammals than we have in the continental United States and Canada combined. Costa Rica also has an unmatched flora, including over 1,000 species of orchids and a great diversity of tree species. The climate of Costa Rica varies with the altitude. In San Jose, we will have springtime temperatures in the 60-80 degree F. range. In other areas that we paddle, the temperatures will be slightly higher with comfortable paddling temperatures in the 80's. Afternoon or evening rain is a probability.
